At least 20 people have been killed in a suicide attack in Sri Lanka's northern town of Anuradhapura, some 180 km north of the capital Colombo.
Security and media sources said that a former army general and opposition leader was among those killed in the attack carried out by suspected Tamil Tiger rebels.
