Top American nuclear envoy Christopher Hill has met his Chinese counterpart in Beijing after a trip to North Korea failed to stop the communist regime from restoring its nuclear facilities.

Last year, North Korea struck a deal at six-party talks with the US, China, South Korea, Japan and Russia to shut down its nuclear programme in return for fuel aid and its removal from a US terrorism blacklist. But last month, Pyongyang announced it had halted dismantling the Yongbyon nuclear plant in protest at Washington's refusal to drop it from the blacklist.
