US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is set to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later this Saturday during a one-day visit to New Delhi.
The visit is meant to showcase a historic civilian nuclear deal expected to be signed between the two countries. The deal is aimed at lifting a ban on US-Indian civilian nuclear trade imposed after India's first nuclear test explosion in 1974. It would give India access to US civilian nuclear technology and fuel in return for inspections of its civilian nuclear facilities.
