Team GB returned from Beijing in August after their best Olympic medal haul in 100 years, finishing fourth in the medal table with 19 golds, 13 silvers and 15 bronze.
The ParalympicsGB team were Britain's most successful for two decades, winning 102 medals, including 42 golds, to finish second in the table behind China.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said in a statement: "Our Olympic and Paralympic athletes put in an absolutely brilliant performance in Beijing, bringing us all pride in their great achievement and renewing our confidence for 2012.
"The parade is the first time so many will have come together in public since Beijing, so let's give them a big thank you and cheer them on as they travel through the streets of London."

The parade will follow a similar route to those which celebrated England's Rugby World Cup win in 2003, the Athens Olympics in 2004 and the Ashes cricket success the following year.
Track cycling Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Romero, who was part of the 2004 parade after winning rowing silver in Athens, said: "I'm looking forward to this one, which will no doubt be even bigger and better!"
The parade will have special significance for Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu, who comes from Newham.
"It's great to come back from the Olympic Games and see how much Team GB's success has been enjoyed by the public," she said.
"I am looking forward to celebrating with everyone in my home city of London during the parade."
