French officials say there is a strong consensus among European Union defence ministers to end the bloc's military mission in Bosnia.
Officials from the defence ministry of France, which holds the current EU presidency, said that the ministers preferred to end the mission and replace it with a more civilian operation. A final decision is to be made next month. The comments came during European defence talks in northern France. EU troops have been deployed in Bosnia since 2004 when they took over from a NATO force.
