They said it contained no provisions for new sanctions on Iran but simply reaffirmed previous sanctions. The talks came two days after Russia had pulled out of a scheduled ministerial gathering to discuss sanctions. Western nations fear that Iran may be seeking to produce nuclear weapons. Tehran insists that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.
