Kiefer out of Wimbledon ... Senate negotiators have reached an agreement in principle on a bill to bail out America's financial system. Following a meeting with top House and Senate lawmakers, Senator Christopher Dodd of the Democrats told reporters in Washington that he thought congress could pass the bill within the next few days. Dodd did not provide any details on the major areas of contention that have been under negotiation.
This comes a day after President George W. Bush made a nationally televised address to call on congress to pass the administration's 700-billion-dollar plan. He warned that a failure to do so could plunge the US economy into a prolonged recession. Bush is to discuss the financial crisis with the two men who hope to succeed him as president, Republican John McCain and Barack Obama of the Democrats, later in the day
