McCain's top adviser steps down ... financial crisis could push the economy into a prolonged recession unless dealt with soon. The financial crisis is also impacting on the presidential campaign for the White House. McCain said he was suspending his campaign and that he wanted to delay a TV debate with Obama over the economic turmoil. Obama has called for Friday's debate to be held as scheduled, arguing that given the current situation voters needed to hear from the candidates more than ever.
