24.09.2008 - North Korea expels IAEA inspectors from plutonium plant

North Korea has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that it plans to restart its Yongbyon plutonium-reprocessing facility by next week.

The Vienna-based nuclear watchdog said in a statement that its monitors had complied with North Korean demands to remove all seals and cameras from the reactor. They added that in future IAEA inspectors would be barred from the reprocessing plant. North Korea has been signalling for days that it would break out of a six-nation disarmament deal in protest over Washington's reluctance to Plutonium leak at Vienna laboratory ...

take it off its terrorism blacklist. North Korea had agreed to a nuclear freeze with the United States, China, Russia, Japan and South Korea, in exchange for energy aid and an easing of sanctions.
