Johannes Feldmayer is accused of channeling tens of millions of euros to a labour organisation in a bid to create a counterweight to the powerful IG Metall union. Prosecutors say Feldmayer channeled over 30 million euros to Wilhelm Schelsky, the former head of the AUB labour organisation, between 2001 and 2006. Feldmayer denied any intention of exerting illegal influence on AUB, but conceded that he had given it financial support. Siemens has been dogged by corruption probes since November 2006.
