Tens of thousands of rail travellers between Britain and the continent have been forced to seek alternative transport. Fire-fighters are still examining the cause of the blaze, which reached temperatures of 1,000 degrees Celsius in one of the tunnel's two shafts, and was only brought under control on Friday. No one was killed in the incident, but 14 people were treated for minor injuries including smoke inhalation. The fire broke out on a freight train which was carrying lorries and other cargo.
