On the left, a mere 7 percent trust the government while on the right the trust is 35 percent. Young, educated and right-minded people also trust the European Union more. According to the Eurobarometer poll authors, the low trust in the government and parliament in the Czech Republic may be due to people's disenchantment with the level of political culture and unsolved political and corruption scandals. According to a June poll by the Czech STEM agency, citizens evaluated best the performance of President Vaclav Klaus who enjoyed almost two third-trust. The government's performance was then trusted by 32 percent of the polled and parliament by 31 percent. This was the eighth poll in the Czech Republic by Eurobarometer that maps citizens' moods in all EU member countries. It was conducted on 1014 respondents on April 2-17.
