Officials in Afghanistan report that 24 people have been killed by a suicide bomber in the south of the country.
Several of those killed were children and four were police officers. According to local authorities, a police vehicle parked near a bazaar was targeted by the bomber who was seated in a car. The attack took place in Afghanistan's southern province of Uruzgan. More than forty people were also wounded. Meanwhile, the US-led coalition says Afghan and coalition security forces have killed at least 40 militants during a two-day battle in southern Afghanistan.
