The European Union has expressed concern after Iran test-fired missiles.
A statement from the French EU presidency said the tests would compound worries over Iran's nuclear ambitions. The 27-nation EU called on Iran to negotiate an end to the standoff over its suspect nuclear activities in the statement issued after Tehran tested several missiles, including one said to be capable of striking Israel. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the results of the tests made US plans for a missile defence shield in Europe unnecessary. Lavrov said the tests confirmed that Iranian rockets only had a limited range.
