The Prison Service's smooth work will be secured by respective deputy heads after Kula being suspended, said Steinerova. According to the police, Kula and his former deputy Zdenek Kreuzzieger have stripped the state of almost 20 million crowns in connection with the order for mobile telephone jammers in prisons. They face two to eight years in prison if found guilty. Kula took over the notification of his accusation, but he said he disagreed with the police results.

Justice Minister Jiri Pospisil said last week he would dismiss Kula if the police concluded that his continued holding the post might threaten the case investigation. Kreuzzieger had already resigned from the post over the controversial order. The pb mont company originally won a tender for a jammer supplier to two prisons. The order in another five prisons was then qualified as classified and no other tender was launched. The Prison Service then filed a complaint against pb mont as the jammers did not work properly and had to be switched off in the two prisons where they were applied. Last year, the deputies from the control committee of the Chamber of Deputies concluded that the prison service did act in harmony with law in the jammers purchase and opted for a bad solution.
