Human rights body criticises Czechs over Romanies, cage beds ... with every sixth man and every 12th woman in the old EU 15. The situation was slightly better only in Slovenia than in the Czech Republic among the ten post-communist countries that joined the EU in 2004 and 2007. The risk of early death Czech men faced dropped by more than 9 percent in 1990-2002, the decrease for women was 4 percent. Slovakia in second position scored a decrease of 8 percent for men and 4 percent for women. The decrease in the old EU 15 was an average of five percent for men and 2 percent for women. The average of the ten new post-communist states was four percent for men and more than 2 percent for women. In 1990, 731 men and 284 women per 100,000 died early, in 2002 the figures were 500 and 207, respectively.
