A member of Afghanistan's parliament has been shot dead by unknown assailants.
Habibullah Jan, a deputy from the southern province of Kandahar, was gunned down on his way home from an Aghan army compound he had visited. Jan used to be a military commander in the area before joining parliament. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
