The European Union has called for quick new elections in Zimbabwe in order to resolve the country's political crisis.
Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe who was returned to power in a widely condemned one-man election last month has said he is open to negotiations to end the crisis, but only if he is accepted as the country's ruler.
