03.07.2008 - Czech military strategy reckons with higher defence budget
NATO chief, Ukraine leader dismiss Russian membership veto ...
Czech PM Topolanek for balanced distribution of new EU posts ...
Czech schools to get money for teachers' pay in July - minister ...
Roithova to lead Czech KDU-CSL candidates in EP election ... Without an increased budget, the Czech Republic would not be able to efficiently and responsibly provide for its defence and to take an active part in NATO and the EU, Bartosova said.
Until 2010, the Czech Defence Ministry annual budget is approximately 55 billion crowns.
The country's military strategy, presented by Defence Minister Vlasta Parkanova (Christian Democrats, KDU-CSL), is yet to be discussed by the government.
Among others, the new strategy deals with a possible increase in the Czech military's participation in foreign missions.
The strategy emphasises international coordination in sharing abilities, research and development and equipment, Bartosova said.
The new strategy updates the previous one from 2004.
