The former Congolese rebel warlord and vice-president Jean-Pierre Bemba has been transferred from Belgium to the custody of the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
There, he faces four charges of war crimes and two charges of crimes against humanity. Bemba is blamed for leading Congolese rebels who waged a campaign of rape and torture in the Central African Republic in 2002-2003 during a coup attempt. He was arrested in Belgium in May on a warrant from the ICC.
