President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party has retained the first seat in a partial recount of last month's controversial election.
The ruling Zanu-PF had demanded a recount of 21 constituencies including those votes cast for president, despite the fact that the presidential results have still not been released. Meanwhile, the state-controlled Herald newspaper has urged Zimbabwe's neighbours to broker talks on a government of national unity to be led by Mugabe. Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who is on his way to Mozambique for talks, claims he won the election outright.
